Organ Recital Schedule for the 2011/2012 Season

Simon Thomas Jacobs

Simon Thomas Jacobs, winner of the 2010 Albert Schweitzer Organ Competition performs his debut recital as the Cathedral’s new Fellow in Sacred Music with an eclectic program of works by Alain, Howells, Purcell, Buxtehude, Bach, Shearing and Liszt which will make use of all three of the Cathedral's wonderful instruments.

Bach by Candlelight – Dana Marsh

Cathedral Organist and Director of Music, Canon Dr. Dana Marsh performs music of J.S. Bach on the Cathedral’s Ruth Lilly Memorial Gallery Organ, by candlelight on the eve of Halloween.

Sunday, January 15, 2012 – 4:30 p.m.
Janette Fishell

Acclaimed teacher and recitalist, Chair of the Organ Department at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and the Cathedral’s Artist in Residence, Dr. Janette Fishell performs works by Bach, Eben Franck and Vierne – the latter two being particularly suited to the French-influenced Hellmuth Wolff Chancel Organ.

Sunday, February 19, 2012 – 4:30 p.m.
Rudy de Vos

Second prizewinner at the prestigious St. Alban’s International Organ Competition, Dr. Rudy de Vos is Director of Music & Organist at the Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, Calif. He performs works by Tournemire, Franck, Vierne, and Guy Bovet.

Recitals at 12:30 p.m. on Fridays will resume after Easter 2012.
