Chorister

World-class education. World-class opportunity.

Choristers are the very heart of music at Christ Church Cathedral. Children ages 7 and above receive musical instruction, vocal training, and sing the finest sacred music of the past two-thousand years. But that’s just a start.

Being a chorister is about learning to be on the team. Through weekly rehearsals and services, social activities, concerts, and tours, choristers build friendships that will last a lifetime. They learn to serve, giving of themselves to each other and to the greater good. They learn to lead, mentoring new choristers, and being an example to those around them. They learn to grow, conquering complex music, and meeting high expectations.

Being a chorister is about learning to love. To love each other, singing in a caring and supportive environment. To love the music, from Bach to brand-new compositions. To love to learn, always striving for deeper connections to the music and its context in the world.

Being a chorister is about seizing an opportunity. Choristers at Christ Church sing each week with, and receive training from some of the finest professional musicians in Indianapolis. Choristers perform with top orchestras in concert. Choristers tour in the U.S. and abroad.

If your child loves to sing, have them consider becoming a chorister at Christ Church Cathedral. No prior experience is needed, and the Director of Music is happy to hear from interested families at any time.
