Dear Cathedral friends,
I have news to share with you with a mix of joy and sadness, even in my short tenure with you. Another departure in our clergy staff was announced at worship this morning. The Rev. Lauren Grubaugh has accepted a call to new ministry in Colorado. Please view the video to hear directly from her.
I must emphasize that this is a normal transition in the career of a new priest and for a cathedral parish with a tradition of forming new priests in their vocation. She’s actually only leaving six months early; but, still, it’s another loss in an unexpected string of losses. We’ll share plans to celebrate her ministry when they are finalized.
It was immediately clear to me that the cathedral needs another full-time priest. So, even as I was waiting at the airport to begin vacation, I began the process with our diocesan transition staff to craft and post an open position for an Interim Canon. We are already receiving names.
Be present, O merciful God, remind us that despite all the chances and changes of this life, we may ever rest in your changelessness, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
