Old friends: Music for organ, four hands, four feet

Simon Thomas Jacobs and Michael Gebhart have been associated with Christ Church Cathedral since 2011 and are delighted to return for a recital on the Cathedral’s wonderful Ruth Lilly Memorial Gallery Organ by Taylor & Boody. In addition to solo works by J.S. Bach, they will combine forces in a performance of Samuel Wesley’s “Duet for Organ”—a delightful work for two players, four hands…and one toe!

Joshua Thompson is a pianist, social musicologist, teaching artist and producer. He is increasingly recognized on a national scale for his expertise on classical composers of African descent and the inherent cultural connectivity in the broader aesthetic of Black Arts movements. His program “Dark Matter” is based on the poem of the same title by Manon Voice, a poet, spoken word artist, and Indianapolis native. Joshua’s program utilizes the masterworks from composers of African descent to tell the story of creation, joy, trial and triumph.
