NEW DEADLINE: An Update on Mailed 2022 Election Ballots

NEW DEADLINE: SUNDAY, JAN. 31

We apologize for the flurry of emails this week. Things are changing quickly, and we want to keep everyone as updated as possible.

We still look forward to seeing you at our Annual Parish Meeting on Sunday, Jan. 30, at 11:30 a.m., but if  you cannot be with us on that day and plan to vote by mail, please review the important update below.

All eligible electors will receive their absentee ballot in the mail so that they may vote in the parish election if they are unable to attend the Annual Meeting. Due to pandemic staffing shortages plaguing businesses nationally and locally, our 2022 election ballots are behind schedule at the printer. Parish bylaws state that mailed ballots must be received seven days before the Annual Meeting. Given the unusual circumstances, the Vestry has approved an exception to the by-laws that allows ballots to count if received by Monday, January 31.

Please keep an eye out for your ballots and, if you plan to vote absentee, return your ballot as soon as possible. Here are two quick ways to do so:

  • Fill out your ballot, seal it in the pre-paid envelope enclosed in the ballot mailing and send it back to us in the mail.
  • Fill out your ballot, seal it in the enclosed envelope, and bring it with you to place in the offering plate during worship either on Sunday, Jan. 23, or on Sunday, Jan. 30.

Votes cast by mail will be logged and checked against ballots cast during the Annual Meeting to ensure only one vote is cast per eligible elector.

If you have any questions, please contact Lauren Good at LaurenG@cccindy.org or at 317-636-4577, ext. 113.

Bring Your Faith Questions to Catechumenate

STARTING MONDAY, FEB. 7, AT 6PM

Do you have questions about God, faith, the church or spirituality? These questions are never in the way of our spiritual growth and life, even if they are critical—asking questions is how we grow. Catechumenate means teaching by questions. Your questions aren’t just welcome, they are the curriculum. You will be with others asking similar questions.

For some, Catechumenate leads to a new faith commitment, such as baptism or confirmation. Others use the opportunity to learn more about Christ Church Cathedral and become a member of our community. Regardless, we are not asking for a commitment—anyone can participate.

Join Dean Gray Lesesne Mondays at 6 p.m. to explore your faith in a friendly, supportive group.

CCC Annual Meeting

SUNDAY, JAN. 30, AT 11:30AM

All members are invited to attend the Annual Parish Meeting, where – among other items of business – we will elect new Vestry members and delegates to the Diocesan Convention that will take place in November 2022. We are particularly looking forward to this annual meeting because, after a year of listening and processing, our Discernment Team will present focus areas for our upcoming ministry as determined by all of the input they received from our members and our neighbors.

All qualified electors will receive absentee ballots in the mail. Per parish by-laws, all absentee ballots must be received in the Cathedral office by Jan. 23. In-person attendees may vote at the meeting on Jan. 30.

Candidates for Vestry: Liliana Guzman, Andrea Hunley, Conner McNeely, Perry Mihalakos, Steve Whaley

Candidates for Diocesan Convention: Jeffry Guerrero, Elaine Klemesrud, Ewan McDuffee, Brent Luebcke (alternate 1), Milicent Wright (alternate 2)

Heartfelt Thanks From the Outreach Ministry Team

The Outreach Ministry Team extends a heartfelt thank you to our Cathedral family for your loving and generous response to the 2021 Adopt-a-Family (AAF) ministry. Due to the pandemic we introduced a new and different Christmas program for 2021. Partnering with Coburn Place Safe Haven to support survivors of interpersonal abuse and their children, Christ Church Cathedral adopted all Coburn Families. Your support was nothing short of amazing, donating:

  • $1,885 in Amazon purchases
  • 200 offertory gift cards
  •  $2,160 in check donations (used to purchase gift cards from Amazon, Gas, Walmart, Kroger, and gas stations.)

To quote Drew  LaCroix, Volunteer and Resources Coordinator at Coburn Place, “You all are SO wonderful and make such a huge difference in the lives of families here.”
