The Deep Beauty of God
What does the deep beauty of God sound like? What does it look like? How do we see ourselves reflected back in God’s beauty? On Sunday, please join me in the Parish Hall at 11:30 a.m. for an in-depth discussion of pillar three of CCC’s strategic plan: The Deep Beauty of God. We will discuss how Christians throughout the ages have sought to reflect God’s beauty in our worship and art, and how Christ Church Cathedral strives to reflect the diversity of God’s creation in its music, art, and programming. We will share more about the goals of this pillar, including initiating The Choir School at Christ Church Cathedral, growing our concert series, and partnering with local arts organizations to feature visual art in our worship space, and on our lawn. We’ll also talk about how we engage with art in ancient worship practices, and in experimental liturgies. Come join us for this deep dive into pillar three of Christ Church Cathedral’s strategic plan!

Racial Equity Workshop: A Groundwater Presentation
SATURDAY, APRIL 30, 9AM TO NOON
In this virtual webinar hosted by CCC, organizers from the Racial Equity Institute will use stories and data to present a perspective that racism is fundamentally structural in nature. The Groundwater metaphor is designed to help participants at all levels internalize the reality that we live in a racially structured society, and that that is what causes racial inequity. The metaphor is based on three observations:
- racial inequity looks the same across systems,
- socio-economic difference does not explain the racial inequity; and,
- inequities are caused by systems, regardless of people’s culture or behavior.
Embracing these truths helps leaders confront the reality that all our systems, institutions, and outcomes emanate from the racial hierarchy, on which the United States was built. In other words, we have a “groundwater” problem, and we need “groundwater” solutions. Starting from there, we begin to unlock transformative change.

Lent At CCC
Although Lent has historically been a time to practice self-denial and privation, some modern adherents use Lent as a time for self-reflection and self-improvement. CCC offers several such opportunities in the coming weeks. In addition, the sermons and Sunday forums throughout Lent will allow us to focus on the five pillars of the strategic plan that was revealed at the end of January. During our forum hour Canon Christopher Caruso Lynch will lead us in a discussion on our third pillar, The Deep Beauty of God.

(These evenings will be primarily in Spanish.)
