Increase our faith!

This Sunday, we’ll hear the disciples ask Jesus very bluntly in Luke 17:5-10 “Increase our faith!” Jesus cleverly responds to their request, saying: “If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, `Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”

Theologian Francisco J. García reminds us: “Faith does not increase like magic. It is felt and known through lived experience. This can only come through practice, in those challenging moments when faith is put to the test. I don’t mean ‘test’ in the sense that you pass or fail, but that you move forward with a concrete step in the justice-seeking and peacemaking way of Jesus, with a discerning heart, regardless of uncertainty, worry, or fear.”

As we begin our Season of Stewardship this month, we deepen our roots in God’s love and hope by praying together, learning together, serving together, and giving together for the work of God’s Kingdom. And in doing so, our faith will increase.

—The Very Rev. Gray Lesesne, D.Min.

Immigrant Welcome Center: CCC’s 3rd Outreach Collaboration

We are delighted to announce Immigrant Welcome Center (IWC) as the third and final 2022-2023 recipient under CCC’s Outreach Ministry program. IWC is dedicated to empowering Indy’s immigrants by connecting them to the people, places, and resources they need in order to thrive.

The partnership stems from CCC’s strategic plan and prayerful intention to support immigrant families and includes a monetary grant along with an additional commitment of time and talent contributions from CCC congregants.

Through various programs, each of which addresses various social, civic, and economic integration efforts, IWC empowers Indy’s immigrants to successfully adapt and integrate.

The sense of belonging and care the Immigrant Welcome Center offers to immigrant families fully embodies the Gospel’s call to love our neighbors as ourselves and this partnership is a clear opportunity to support crucial programming in our community.
