Response to Supreme Court Decision June 24, 2022

CCC’s Dean Gray Lesesne and Canon Jodi Baron invite you to gather for a Service of Lament and Healing on Sunday, June 26, at 4 p.m. Aware that we are not all of one mind on the issue, we understand there are many feelings and reactions to today’s decision. We offer a place to bring all feelings. Watch Dean Gray and Canon Jodi’s message below. (UPDATE: You can watch the service online at https://youtu.be/q6PBrUWTxyg.)

Since 1967, The Episcopal Church has maintained its “unequivocal opposition to any legislation on the part of the national or state governments which would abridge or deny the right of individuals to reach informed decisions [about the termination of pregnancy] and to act upon them.” At the same time, we also recognize that issues surrounding family planning and reproductive health are complicated for many in the church, and we intentionally designed this liturgy so that all have space to come and be together in the presence of the Holy One in a time of grief, fear, rage, confusion, hurt, and lament.
