How long have you been a member at Christ Church Cathedral?
I have been a member of Christ Church Cathedral for 35 years.

What ministries are you involved with at CCC?
I am the father to three daughters who were in the choir. I have been an usher and an acolyte. I have been a verger for many years. I completed the four years of the Education for Ministry course.

How do you connect to the mission of CCC?
The mission of “widening the circle of God’s embrace with heart and voice” is very much in line with my mission as a verger at Christ Church Cathedral. As past secretary and vice-president of the Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church, I was instrumental in moving that organization from one of just fellowship to one of fellowship, promotion, and education. A verger in the Vergers Guild is dedicated to learning as much about our ministry of organization, service, and welcoming as possible.

I view my role of verger as one who welcomes new people to the cathedral and I try to make sure that they are as comfortable with the service that they can possibly be. My family and I were made to feel like we were part of a family when we came to Christ Church and I am determined to see that others feel the same way.

What would you hope to accomplish on the Vestry?
I strongly believe in our church’s activist role in the community. I believe that we should be involved in the social issues of the protection of human rights, immigration issues, homeless issues, and interfaith issues. As part of the vestry I would push to increase our support and involvement in these areas. I also believe that we are obligated to take care of our own. As such, I would support our youth programs, music programs, and seek more activities that would bring our English and Latino congregations together into a more coherent church.
