Sunday Lenten Coffee Talk

SUNDAYS @ 11-11:45 AM

As we walk together through the wilderness, we need the energy and joy of good companions to accompany us. Pour yourself a second (or third) cuppa and join us for a lively Zoom conversation about each Sunday’s Scripture lessons and sermon from 11:00-11:45 a.m.. What did you hear? What sticks with you, and where are you still pondering? What is God inviting you to do next?

Introduction to Progressive Christianity Continues

TUESDAY, MARCH 16 @ 7 PM

Looking for a short Lenten refresher? Join Dean Gray Lesesne for an overview of what it means to be an open-minded follower of Jesus Christ who loves, serves, and includes all people, no exceptions. We’ll explore: What are the foundations of an open-minded faith? What in the Bible supports this viewpoint? How do you align your daily living with progressive Christian precepts?

Centering Prayer at the Cathedral

Do you seek the still, quiet voice of God? Contemplative prayer is a way to experience God in quietness of spirit. It is God’s personal and unique gift to us, and has been a part of our Christian heritage for centuries. If we are open to the gift of contemplation, it may profoundly affect our daily life.

Centering prayer is a particular type of contemplative prayer that connects us with God in sacred silence. Christ Church Cathedral is pleased to offer both a weekly group practice of centering prayer, and a half-day workshop to introduce you to centering prayer if it is new to your experience of spiritual practice.

Weekly Centering Prayer Practice

MONDAYS @ 5:30 PM

Every week our Cathedral Centering Prayer Group gathers for an hour of rest in God’s presence, meeting God in the sound of sheer silence. We begin each week with a brief check in with everyone, followed by a spiritual reading and 20 minutes of silent meditation, concluded by the Lord’s Prayer together. Learn more about Centering Prayer in our upcoming workshop and consider joining us.

Centering Prayer Workshop

SATURDAY, MARCH 27 @ 9 AM  – 12:30 PM

This half-day workshop will:

  • present the method of the Centering Prayer
  • help us to understand the indwelling Presence of God within each of us and our intimate relationship with that Presence
  • explore its benefits in ordinary life

Time will be allowed for the practice of centering prayer. All are welcome to attend and participate!

Welcome

Lauren Good

as Executive Coordinator

We’re pleased to announce that Lauren Good has joined the Cathedral staff as the Executive Coordinator. Her primary duties will be to assist Dean Gray Lesesne and Crystal Stone and to help with communications and the membership database. Some of you may remember Lauren from her previous time at the Cathedral as the Worship and Music Assistant from 2001 to 2013. We’re very pleased to welcome her back!

COVID-19 Vaccine Update

This week, the Indiana State Department of Health expanded the eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine. If you are 50 and older, or a patient identified as having highest risk of severe illness from COVID-19, you can now register online or call 211.

In the Wilderness: Trois Leçons de Ténèbres, François Couperin

SATURDAY, MARCH 27 AT 6:30PM

The lamentations of Jeremiah have been set to music for use during holy week by a myriad of composers, but French baroque composer François Couperin’s setting from 1714 eclipses the rest in capturing the pain Jeremiah feels at the destruction of Jerusalem. Cellist Joanna Blendulf, Sopranos Chloe Boelter and Paulina Francisco, and organist Christopher Caruso-Lynch present this timeless chamber music to prepare us for passiontide.

Sacred Space Yoga

MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS FROM 5:30 – 6:30 PM

Parents, take our Christian Formation survey!

Parents, we’d like your thoughts as we prepare for Christian Formation programs and staffing later this spring for our children and youth.  We want to help all of our parents to find ways to live into your spiritual gifts as Christians, and to create gatherings for our young people that are both formative and life-giving. Please take a moment to complete this short survey as soon as possible.
