Baptism is the sacrament by which an individual becomes a Christian and a member of the Church. Christ Church Cathedral believes that all ministry originates in baptism, the outward sign of our authority to serve in the name of Christ.

Baptism is a celebration—for the individual being baptized, for his or her family, and for the entire congregation, which promises to support the newly baptized in his or her life in Christ.

Adult baptisms take place on the Great Vigil of Easter, or at the discretion of the Dean and Rector. For children and youth, parents and godparents participate in a preparation seminar offered in anticipation of baptism Sundays, which occur throughout the year. These days include All Saints’ Sunday, the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord, the Great Vigil of Easter, Pentecost Day, and the Sunday following the Feast of the Transfiguration.
