What is EFM?

Most of us reach a point in our lives where we take stock of where we are and where we are going emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Taking stock, however, is not really an event but more of a process of examining the inner self. Here at Christ Church Cathedral we have many avenues open to us by which we can answer the call and move along that introspective path. If you find yourself asking, “What do I do now?” check out EFM, Education for Ministry. I believe we are called to be ministers, in whatever capacity that fits us, that is, to be active participants in our church’s ministries. This ministry is our calling to love and serve God through Christ.

EFM is a four-year course, offered through the University of the South. The group meets weekly at the church for about nine months of the year. It is up to the individual to decide at the end of the year about registering for the next year. We study scripture, discuss the assignments, pray, worship, examine our beliefs; all with the goal to deepen our understanding of our Christian faith, and maybe most importantly, to learn to think and reflect theologically about our lives as Christians. It is a wonder-filled way to deepen your spiritual life.

Registration is now is now open for the fall group. If you are interested in registering or learning more about EFM, please either call the church (317) 636-4577 and leave your name and number, or send me an email (jamagers@indy.rr.com) feel free to talk with any of the clergy about this program.
