Worship Online this Sunday with CCC

Christ Church Cathedral Family, because multiple staff members at CCC have now tested positive for COVID-19, we will remain “online only” for worship this weekend. We continue to check in with and offer support to our staff who have undergone testing throughout the last week. Please keep them and all those who suffer from COVID-19 in your prayers.

To further prevent any community spread and to protect one another, all services at Christ Church Cathedral on Sunday, August 22 will be ONLINE ONLY. We are grateful to the Wardens and Diocesan staff for their consultation and support of this decision.

On Sunday, join us for virtual worship:

Because those volunteers who assist with Sunday morning community breakfast remain unexposed, we will again offer a to-go breakfast Sunday at 7 a.m. for our downtown neighbors. However, the Cathedral building will be closed.

Please continue to mask, encourage your friends and family to get vaccinated, and be cautious in gathering as an act of love for ourselves and our neighbors. Through diligent response, contact tracing, and testing, we hope to regather for worship soon, and we will communicate any updates quickly and efficiently.

Thank you all for your understanding, your flexibility, and your commitment to “Widening the Circle of God’s Embrace” (virtually).

Interim Children and Youth Ministry Coordinators

We are blessed that two of our parishioners have accepted our call to assist with our Children’s and Youth Ministries. Anne Tordai is an Indianapolis native and 3rd generation member of Christ Church Cathedral, where she was baptized and married. She is delighted to be a part of the Christian formation of the next generation at her spiritual home.

Ellen Grayson has been an engaged member of CCC for 26 years, singing both in the Girls’ Choir and the Cathedral Choir, volunteering with CCC youth and serving currently as a verger. She teaches second grade in a new elementary school in downtown Indianapolis.

Thank you, Anne and Ellen, for your continued leadership and for sharing your gifts with CCC!

A Morning of Prayer and Meditation

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 AT 10AM

Jesus said to his disciples: “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a little while.” (Mark 6:31) As our Cathedral continues its Remember, Renew, Rise Season of Discernment about God’s call to us for our next chapter of ministry, we invite you to come away and rest with us at a Morning of Prayer and Meditation. We’ll gather at the Benedict Inn in Beech Grove to walk the labyrinth and discuss our experiences.

Labyrinth walking is an ancient practice used by many different faiths for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. In the Christian tradition, labyrinths are often part of spiritual pilgrimages and quests for answers to deep spiritual questions and an answering to prayer. Our very own Michael Landon, a trained spiritual director, will guide us in exercises to learn how to use the labyrinth as part of deepening our individual practices of faith.

Masks and social distancing are required at all CCC events regardless of vaccination status.

This annual outing, started more than a decade ago by CCC’s Latino community, is a crowd favorite! Bring a picnic and meet at the playground at Anderson Orchard in Mooresville. Your Gifts Have Funded Another Grant

Now, more than ever, community organizations are working to meet the emerging needs of domestic violence survivors. Since the pandemic began, domestic violence homicide rates have increased by 113 percent alone. For that reason and more, we are grateful for your gifts that have funded another Covenant Grant to Alternatives, Inc.

Alternatives, Inc. supports domestic violence survivors in Central Indiana through the initial stages of crisis with the ultimate strategy of helping them achieve abuse-free and financially independent lives. Their services include housing, children’s services, food and transportation security, and other means of education and prevention. The agency was founded in 1978 by seven dedicated women who shared a common vision of peace in every home. Thank you for sharing your abundant blessings with the people of the diocese!

CCC Seeking Canon for Spiritual Formation

Do you have a passion for spiritual formation? We’re looking for you!  The Canon for Spiritual Formation will work to renew and revitalize all aspects of the Cathedral’s formation and educational ministries, including our offerings for children, youth, and adults. In a post-COVID world, our new Canon is in a unique position to help us entirely reimagine formation in ways that are intergenerational, intercultural, bilingual, dynamic, experiential, and not necessarily experienced in a traditional classroom setting. This is a non-ordained position.
